The pattern of the eighth day — what starts again on the far side of completion.
In Scripture
The eighth day is resurrection's day — the day after the sabbath, the first day of the new week, when the tomb stood open.
“And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.”
Covenant marked on the eighth day — a new identity after the first week of life.
“Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.”
Eight souls carried through the flood into a washed world.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
In Christ, a new creation: old things passed away.
